THE PARISH VISION AND MISSION STATEMENT

The Church of England in the Parish of Knaresborough aims to present the Christian Gospel in such a way that it may be known and joyfully experienced by all people.

Holy Trinity's 166ft spire is an important landmark in Knaresborough. Floodlit at night, it is a welcoming sight when approaching the town from all directions. This welcome continues and is extended within the church itself, its services and associated activities.

We are delighted to baptise children and adults who live in the parish and to marry those who qualify. For further information or to make a booking please contact the Parish Administrator, Faye Wright, who is based in the Team Office. The office is open Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday from 9.30 am to 1.30 pm. The office phone number is (01423) 869209.

The Knaresborough Team comprises five churches combined into a single parish: three village churches, St John the Baptist, Brearton, St Paul & St Margaret, Nidd, and St Mary the Virgin, Goldsborough and two town churches St John the Baptist and this one.

Our main Sunday services are in the Anglo Catholic tradition with incense used regularly. The Sung Eucharist gives way to a more modern form of worship once every two months to encourage new members. High days and holy days are often celebrated in conjunction with the other churches in the parish team and ecumenical services add to the diversity of our worship.

Worship at all the Sunday services is enhanced by the contributions of our enthusiastic organist and choir. Holy Trinity's acoustics are locally renowned and it is home to the town's own choral society. Other choral and instrumental concerts are held periodically.

The Holy Trinity based Bible Study Group meets weekly in participant's homes and welcomes members from other Team Churches. Many of our congregation are members of other groups within the Team including Mother's Union, Knaresborough Parish Ladies, and the Bereavement Befrienders group.

Our hall, which is adjacent to the church, is well used by many community organisations in the town.

THE PARISH VISION AND MISSION STATEMENT

The Church of England in the Parish of Knaresborough aims to present the Christian Gospel in such a way that it may be known and joyfully experienced by all people.

A warm welcome awaits you at St John's Church in Knaresborough. We would love for you to join us for one or more of our acts of worship, or perhaps you may just want to spend some time with God in these pleasant surroundings. The church can be found near the railway station.

St John's is a beautiful and ancient parish church but it is not just a nostalgic reminder of ancient Christian England. It has a living, vibrant and committed worshipping congregation. People have worshipped in this building for nearly a thousand years and we join our prayers and worship with theirs. Where better to praise God than in this incredible setting?

The Knaresborough Team comprises five churches combined into a single parish: three village churches, St John the Baptist, Brearton, St Paul & St Margaret, Nidd, and St Mary the Virgin, Goldsborough and two town churches Holy Trinity and this one.

Our style of worship would best be described as traditional, done really well. We have one of the finest choirs who take great joy in praising God with their voices in sung Eucharist's and Choral Evensongs. We offer monthly 'All-Age' worship, designed with familes and young children in mind and enjoyed by people of all ages. If the Book of Common Prayer is your spiritual preference then we would be very happy to welcome you at one of those services too.
We are delighted to baptise children and adults who live in the parish and to marry those who qualify. For further information or to make a booking please contact the Parish Administrator, Faye Wright, who is based in the Team Office. The office is open Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday from 9.00 am to 2.00 pm. The office phone number is (01423) 869209, the email address is [email protected].

The church is open from early morning until late afternoon every day and many people visit it for prayer or just out of interest. We regularly have a variety of different services and events. Please see http://www.knaresboroughanglicanteam.org (link B on Homepage) for up to date information.
